Communications - Full-time

Communications Director (IN-PERSON Hire, Grand Rapids office)

The Communications Director for LIFE International provides oversight to all external organizational communications to tell the story of how God is working through LIFE International to ensure clarity impact in messaging, and to facilitate consistency with organizational brand standards. This individual will also work in collaboration with ministry directors to meet the scheduled communications timelines with accuracy and quality consistent with the organization’s standards.  

 

Reporting Relationship  
The Communications Director Reports to the Sr. VP of Advancement & Prayer Mobilization 

 

Core Responsibilities  

  • – Works closely with the President and leadership team to develop and coordinate organization’s external messaging, multi-channel strategies, plans and timelines. 

  • – Collaborate with directors to strategize the timely execution of individual departments’ communication demands 

  • – Provide oversight in all aspects of communications; creative design, copywriting, editing, graphic design, print layout, video content, and training resources.  

  • – Copywrite as needed including direct mail, web stories, journalistic, case statements, reports, training materials, grant requests, and others.  

  • – Write creatively with clear biblical foundations to include a broad, holistic message of the sacredness of human life when appropriate while withholding political agendas.  

  • – Work with contract service providers to develop and execute integrated digital footprint, search engine marketing, advertising, tradeshows, and other campaigns to generate exposure and leads.  

  • – Develop and manage the communications budget 

  • – Oversight and management of all communications projects as requested by directors 

  • – Research and select subcontractors for select communications projects 

  • – Provide ongoing feedback and guidance for contractors as needed.  

  • – Assist in creating content to be used in presentations by president, directors, board members, and ministry advocates.  

 

Secondary Responsibilities  

  • – Collaborate with departments to gather and facilitate a pipeline of partner testimonies and stories for use in various organizational communications as needed.  

  • – Oversee social media standards collaborating with departments and work to develop strategy to build audience engagement. 

 

 

Qualifications  

  • – Demonstrates a strong and growing relationship in Jesus Christ.  

  • – Is committed to upholding LIFE International’s position on the sanctity of human life, biblical sexuality, and biblical model for families and marriage.  

  • – Understands, believes, and can compassionately articulate the integrated message of the gospel and the sanctity of human life message 

  • – A person of upstanding character.  

  • – Excellent management and interpersonal skills.  

  • – Is highly organized and gives great attention to detail.  

  • – General knowledge of budget management and projections.  

  • – Undergraduate degree in communications, journalism, English or 5 years’ related experience 

  • – Experience in multi-channel communications.  

  • – Strong written and verbal communication skills.  

  • – Working knowledge of social media platforms and marketing trends.  

  • – Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 platforms.  

  • – Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, with proficiency in InDesign 

  • – Strong visual, creative, and messaging skillset 

  • – Basic understanding of video editing for small scale communications projects
