Job Description

Building/Construction - Full-time

Learn the art of naturalistic hardscaping that compliments Michigan naturalistic landscaping. This trade requires hard labor, no doubt. But the long-lasting impact gives satisfaction and purpose that outlasts a lifetime. Roots Wild is seeking a candidate with a hunger to learn, work with their hands, persist through challenge, and enjoy a very satisfying profession with long-lasting finished products.

 

Learn to:

  1. measure a site for estimating

  2. measure materials for assembly and installation

  3. prepare a site for work and plan layout

  4. plan materials by selecting beautiful and quality materials fit for the site

  5. excavate sites with precision

  6. operate machinery

  7. adjust grading

  8. cut stone and brick

  9. place large rock materials

  10. create pondless water features, firepits, boulder walls, patios, walkways, etc.

  11. review design prints to determine materials and machinery

  12. select bonding agents and sealants for function and beauty

  13. remove damaged materials and repair

  14. perform work safely and sustainably

  15. perform work with precision, pride, and efficiency for the benefit of clients

Requirements:

  • long-term commitment to invest in yourself by learning this trade

  • Strong work ethic

  • Organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Teamwork 

  • Motivation to learn

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

  • Background check

  • A smartphone with cellular data/Wi-Fi 

  • Professional appearance and demeanor

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to move 100+ pounds

  • Lift, squat, push, pull, shovel, etc.

  • Spend long hours completing manual labor

  • Various weather conditions

Of Note: Seasonal (March – December). Off-season work may become available.

Pay & Benefits:

  • $18.50 – $20.50 / hour, commensurate with experience

  • Competitive hourly pay
