i’m captured by your presence
i’m aware oh Lord of the nearness of you
i’m captured by your love for me
a love oh Lord that’s forever new

you captivate me
and forever i will be with you
you captivate me
and forever i belong to you

you’ve captured my heart oh Lord
let me never return from where I came
you’ve captured this soul of mine
let me never, oh Lord, let me never be the same

i’m caught up in your goodness
in your amazing grace
you’ve come after me relentlessly
i’m found in your embrace

i need you, oh Jesus

The Story Behind the Tune

A note from Mike Tatu
The words to this song really came to me on a day where Alicia and I were driving down the coast of Lake Michigan and really sensed all day that God was near and was enjoying us as we enjoyed His goodness.

Everything from our conversation to the places we discovered that day were so greatly entwined with a deep impression of God's love. We swam in a beach near Ludington at sunset and the weather was perfect the water was warm and I could hear the heart of God saying simply, "I'm crazy about you and you are Mine."

A note from Chris Walker
Mike and I have had the pleasure of doing life together for a few years now, and he’s become one of my best friends over the last few years.

I remember being around him and his lovely bride Alicia when they went through a stretch of discovery.  From my point of view it seemed like they were discovering (or re-discovering, may be more appropriate) that God actually LIKED them.

The Creator of the Universe actually gets excited when he thinks about these two.  And because of the community that we share, I was able to
rediscover that God actually likes me too.

The amazing thing is that when you’re reminded that the Lord is crazy about you, it has a reciprocal effect.  I became more crazy about my heavenly Father.

I’m thankful that Mike shared that part of his journey with me and I’m thankful that he gave us a song to express that experience.
