your mighty deeds are far beyond what words of man can tell
they speak of the power of our awesome king of love
so I will meditate upon this epic story of your fame
so let us lift our voice in praises to our king

for you are God and your name reigns in the heavens
and your glory covers all the earth
forever we will praise you for you are God
and your light shines in the darkness
all of hell can’t come against this
forever we will praise you for you are God

each generation will commend your works unto the next
they will tell of the enduring love of our King of ages
so to the world we will proclaim this epic story of your fame
so let us lift our voice in praises to our king

Father you are, Jesus you are, Spirit you are God and we adore you

The Story Behind the Tune

A note from Mike Tatu
This song has evolved so many times over the last seven years from when it was originally written in Denver, Colorado.

A few years ago, I was spending some time in prayer in our youth room at the church I worked at in Denver and while playing the keyboard we had in the room, the words of the chorus came all at once. I added some verses almost immediately but they felt forced and detached.

It wasn't until years later, with Andy Ferris' genius involved, when the song took new direction and found a second life. It's been fun watching Ada Bible Church — and especially Lifeline — take this and make it their own.

A note from Andy Ferris
Ilove the taunting nature of the chorus ("all of hell can’t come against this"). We read a lot in scripture about confidence and assurance and this song declares it and gives it a foundation: that God is God.  There is nothing else to boast in!
