you knew my heart before the world was born
you called me your child before the atlantic reared its tide
you called me beloved before everest was formed
all of my life let me live for the eternal God
oh great God beyond all of time
there is none like you
you know every heart in all of mankind
may your name be exalted
you know my soul that i’ve hurt, that i’ve loved, that i’m searching
you know my mind where i’ve been, where i am, where i’m going
you call me your own you never grow tired of my voice
you call to my heart where once there was death I am coming alive
awaken a hunger for you
awaken a thirst deep in our souls
awaken…
A note from Mike Tatu
I wrote this song at a time in my life where i had forgotten that God loved me before I could produce or accomplish anything. For the first time in years, I felt that God was reminding me that He was thinking of me before He created the Atlantic or Mount Everest. It puts things in perspective when you realize that God's design of human life far outweighed the design of these great majestic places.
A note from Chris Walker
You know my soul – that I’ve hurt, that I’ve loved, that I’m searching. You know my mind – where I’ve been, where I am, where I’m going. Where once there was death, I am coming alive. Awaken a hunger for you. Awaken a thirst deep in our souls.
Wow.
Amen.
