every breath I breathe in this life is yours
in every pain it's your strength to endure
in every trial I can count it joy
for every breath I breathe in this life is yours

your people are calling out "you are our only hope"
your people are calling out "you are our only hope"

oh God, my God - we are waiting
for redemption of all that is fading
and for the whole world to see you as you are
oh God, my God - You're unchanging
your patient love is amazing
as you work in us to show you as you are
as you work in us to show you as you are

life begins with you, life is found in you
oh God my God - you are life
hope begins with you, hope is found in you
oh God my God - you are hope

The Story Behind the Tune

A note from Matt Bell
This is a song of hope for what God is still doing in this world. Some-where along the line I think we began to speak about Jesus in past tense; as if he has had his time and now it's on to figuring out life in the 21st century for ourselves.

But God continues to write His story. Life and hope continue to be found in Jesus. Redemption is here and its coming.  The most unbelievable part of it all is that He is using us to show Himself in the world.

A note from Andy Ferris
When Matt first played this song by me I was captured by the lyric “we are waiting for redemption of all that is fading”.  So much so that I stole the idea and used it in “Kingdom Coming Down.”

I love the following logic that it is through God’s (patient!) work in us that his nature is revealed to the world around us.

And the banjo is just a cool instrument.
