Kingdom Coming Down

Music at Ada

Our Vision

Did you ever notice that we sing every weekend in church?  Often times we confuse music and worship.  Worship is a lifestyle, the conscious decision to live our entire lives out of a deep love for God because he first loved us.  But music has always allowed Jesus followers an important outlet to unify with each other as we try to make much of our Lord and Savior.

See, we believe that singing to God and about God is an important thing to do as a community.  We unite together when we sing, stating truths about God’s character and His works.  Songs often give us a stronger form of expression than mere words.  Melodies stick with us throughout the week, lyrics will come to us when we need them, and the atmosphere of a tune helps our spirit speak when words escape us.  Songs also teach us theology, simply using melody and lyrics instead of an exegetical outline.   When we sing together – however odd it may be sometime – we move from being a group of individuals to becoming the unified Body of Christ.

So we sing.  It’s one way that we worship God together.

Serving

As a music ministry, we think it’s our goal to worship by serving.  It just happens that service involved music.  This is how we say it around here:

Our commission from God is to use the expression of music
to encourage a lifestyle of worship.

Sure, we’re still figuring out how to do this well.  But we want to take every chance we’re given to use melodies, harmonies, lyrics, and instruments to encourage a lifestyle of worship.  This new album – Kingdom Coming Down – is a natural extension of wanting to serve the community, giving Ada Bible Church a new soundtrack to sing the glory of God.  These are songwriters and musicians from our own church, worshipping next to us, leading small groups, handing off their kids to the amazing volunteers in Discovery Village, sitting under the teachings of Jeff, Bob and Brady.  Who better to give us new expressions to sing of what God is doing, than those that are experiencing it with us?

The Beneficiaries

This is bigger than just a collection of songs, though.  We see the value and vision in this project come alive from a number of different perspectives.  There are numerous beneficiaries.   It’s our prayer that the community of Ada Bible, the songwriters, the music team, and even other churches will be encouraged by these truths that we have seen in the scriptures and in the stories being written around us within the lives of our friends.

Why We Do What We Do

This recording was made because we believe in the God that specializes in resurrections.  That God deserves to be feared, honored and loved.  That God – our God – is captivating.  He’s holy.  He reigns forever.  He’s the King of Ages, but he longs to be the God of all the wounded, fallen men.  He’s the giver of good gifts, and the redeemer to all that is fading.  He’s the God that’s beyond all of time.  And he deserves to have his people make much of whom he is and what he’s doing.

So, people of Ada Bible Church, may this album encourage you that the kingdom is here even now.  May you find in Jesus all the reason that you need to sing from the tips of your toes, and may you continue to listen for that beautiful voice that speaks light into the dark, and life into the heart.
